Christopher Bruce and Richard Alston's Achievements at Rambert

Christopher Bruce arrived at Rambert at 18 years old to study ballet. This was the start of his career at Rambert. Even though he was a late started he soon became the principal male dancer in the company. So his achievements at the company includes quickly rising in talent and status. 14 years after he started at the company he was appointed associate director of the company, and shortly after in 1979 the associate choreographer. From this he created over 20 works, a massive contribution to the company. Examples of his work include Swan Song, Rooster and Ghost Dance. Richard Alston was already an experienced dancer and choreographer before coming to Rambert (having already studied with Cunningham among others). In 1980 he was made resident choreographer with Rambert, becoming the company's Artistic Director from 1986 - 1992.
